Harmony and Understanding lays the foundation for teachers to encourage students' commitment to worth values. One of education's essential tasks is to develop people's understanding of themselves and others through developing their understanding of the world.
Students need to be equipped with the knowledge, skills and sensibilities to enable them to participate effectively as members of society and to contribute towards the development of shared values and a common national identity.
